Surrounded by Morning
“An army with horses and chariots surrounded the city. His servant said, Alas, my master! What shall we do?”

Reflection
He woke up, looked outside, and saw only the threat. That is an honest description of many mornings: the first thing the eyes find is what is arrayed against you.
PRAY
God, I wake up already counting what is against me. Before I add up the threats today, let me take an accurate count — of help, of provision, of what has already held.
Amen.
