Handfuls on Purpose
“Pull out some stalks for her from the bundles and leave them for her to pick up, and do not rebuke her.”
Ruth 2:16
Reflection
He arranged for extra grain to be dropped where she was working, and told his men not to shame her for gathering it. She still did the gathering — the help came in a form that left her dignity intact.
PRAY
God, make me the kind of person who helps that way: quietly, without spectacle, leaving people their dignity. And give me the grace to receive help in that form too.
Amen.

Help that protects dignity is the best kind to give and to take.
