He Turned His Face to the Wall
“Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed, and wept bitterly.”
Isaiah 38:2–3
Reflection
He turned away from the room to pray, and he wept while doing it. There was no composure in it and no performance — which is what makes it a model rather than an embarrassment.
PRAY
Lord, I have been managing my face for everyone around me. Here, with You, let me stop. Take the fear and the tears without requiring me to arrange them first.
Amen.
DECLARE
I do not have to be composed in front of God.
TODAY'S PRACTICE
Take ten minutes alone and pray without managing how it sounds. Tears are part of the prayer, not an interruption of it.
